Second‑Generation Launch in 1999

The XR30 (and its sibling XR40) marked the second generation of the Previa, arriving in 1999. This newer model replaced the first generation and introduced a front‑wheel‑drive layout.

Designed by Future Lexus Leader

The Previa’s original design was created by Tokuo Fukuichi, who later became the global head of Toyota’s luxury brand Lexus. The vehicle was first unveiled in the UK in September 1990 at the International Motor Show.

Bridge Between Three Generations

The XR30 ran until 2006, after which the third generation (XR50) took over. Together with the first and third generations, the XR30 helped complete the Previa’s three‑generation production run that spanned nearly three decades.
